Deandre “ Kip” Thomas

Deandre Patrick Thomas, affectionately known as Deon, was born May 13, 1977 to Lillie P. Thomas and Houston Thomas, Sr., in Joliet, Illinois.

Deandre attended Joliet Public Schools and graduated from Joliet West High School in 1995.  He served in the United States Army from 1996-2006 with honors; Declaration National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, and Overseas Service Ribbon.  After serving in the military, Deon settled in Killeen, Texas where he obtained his degree in communications and worked at Baylor Scott & White Health in the Information Systems department at the time of his death.

He was preceded in death by his father, Houston L. Thomas, Sr. and his mother, Lillie P. Thomas.

Deon departed this life on Saturday, August 18, 2018 in Fort Hood, Texas at the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center.

Deon leaves to cherish his memory; one daughter, Tiondra Thomas of Virginia; two sons, Deandre Thomas, Jr. of Texas and Deandre Thomas, III,  the son of his mother and his companion, Marla Campbell, both of Killeen, TX; sisters, Cassandra (Avery) Dorris and Brenda Hester; brother, Houston L. Jr. (Cicely) Thomas; special nieces, Andrea Hester and Brittney Hester, Danielle (Rodney) Lee, Antwanette, Nikia and Linea Thomas; special nephews, Douglas (Alessia) Dorris, Kevon Dorris, Darnell Thomas, Daniel Thomas, Houston Thomas, III, Dillon Thomas and Jamir Thomas; great nieces, Kaylie, Caliyah, and Airyanna and a host of family and friends.
